Crushing and pressing the Chardonnay grapes. The grapes are dumped out of the box into the stainless steel crusher. The juice runs out of the bottom of the crusher, through a hose, up and into the vertical, hydraulic press. Juice freely runs out through the wood slats into a blue collection tub and is pumped into barrels in the winery to begin fermentation. When the press basket is full, the white lid is bolted down, and the actual pressing begins. The picking boxes are washed after each use to clean out residual grapes and leaves. [close]
